_“As long as the earth endures, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22
THE ROOT SYSTEMS OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY:
We are learning every day about the physical and mental causes for depression and anxiety. However, we must never forget that we are spirit, soul and body. There are spiritual causes for anxiety and depression. I believe we must understand the spiritual root(s) to these crippling conditions to experience true freedom.
Listed below are just a few of the spiritual causes for depression and their Biblical reference.
Listed below are just a few of the spiritual causes for depression and their Biblical reference.
VIOLATING SPIRITUAL LAWS:
I. HONOR YOUR PARENTS:
"Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother--this is the first commandment with a promise--That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth". Ephesians 6:2-3 (Amplified Version)
II. JUDGING OTHERS:
"Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves. For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be judged and criticized and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you use to deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you." Matthew 7:1-2
III. SOWING AND REAPING:
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Galatians 6:7
"They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind." Hosea 8:7
"But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil, you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your own strength and on your many warriors." Hosea 10:13
IV. JUDGING OTHERS FOR WHAT YOU DO:
"You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye". Matthew 7:5
THE PRINCIPLE OF INCREASE:
All truth is parallel. What is true spiritually is true in the natural. When a farmer plants his seeds, will he receive another seed in return? No! He will receive a harvest from the seeds he has sown. The same principle works in our lives. Everything we say and do is a seed. We cannot plant corn and expect to reap a harvest of apples. If you sow seeds of anger, then you will reap anger and rage in your life. If you sow seeds of disrespect to authority then you will be disrespected in all positions of authority (e.g parents, marriages, work relationships, etc). A farmer may plant a kernel of corn, but when he receives the harvest, the kernel has transformed into a huge stalk with many ears of corn with hundreds of kernels of corn. Keeping with this same example, what we get in return looks significantly different than the seed we planted. The following are scriptures that will give more insight on the principle of increase:
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows". Galatians 6:7
"As long as the earth remains, there will be seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease". Genesis 8:22
"Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a
crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown”. Mark 4:20
“They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up". Hosea 8:7
"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness". 2 Corinthians 9:10
Jesus said many times that he did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). When we recognize our error and confess, Jesus steps in-between you and your evil harvest. This is why Jesus had to die. Through His death, He satisfied the legal requirement for sin (death) so you can go free (Romans 6:23). But you must be specific. Name the thing(s) that you have done and ask for forgiveness. By doing this, you will have a new start to plant better seeds in your life. Better seeds reap a better harvest.

"DON'T LOOK BACK!"
"If you make a quality decision that you will walk by faith and live by the Word of God, that you will be delivered from 'depression, anxiety and low self-esteem', then you will...because you've hooked up to the power of God. You aren't making a decision that you'll have to carry out in your own human strength. God will back you up and enable you to be an overcomer. So whatever your battle is today, in whatever area you want victory, make a quality decision. And don't look back!"
